While Donald Lovering,of Advantage Home Inspection,Inc. was inspecting the plumbing system, this particular water heater was found to be “back-drafting “combustion byproducts. From the evidence on top of the appliance, it had been occurring since new.  It has been repaired before someone was injured.

This is a home owner installed backwash for their water treatment system. Unfortunately, they never installed a check valve. The water being consumed was full of black water bacteria.
